This Sentence Classification Card Sort is a great way for your students to practice their knowledge of sentence types while they sort cards!
Start by printing and cutting everything out for your students. Then have them glue the pockets into their pages as an interactive notebook, or just use the sorting mat.
After that, they’ll read through the 40 sentence cards to sort into one of four categories (Declarative, Interrogative, Imperative, and Exclamatory). For instance, when they pick up the card and read “Where is the cat?” they would sort it into the interrogative pocket.
Once they are done sorting, they can look at the answer key to check their own work.
