Mean, median, mode, range, and more are all the rage this Halloween as you provide some seasonal fun by practicing the measures of central tendency.

Students will compute the mean, median, mode, and range of six different Halloween scenarios.

  • Counting bats
  • Houses visited while trick-or-treating
  • Spiders seen in the attic
  • Circumference of pumpkins
  • Amount of candy collected
  • Number of screams during the dark maze

Then using that data, students will think critically to answer other relevant questions.

Use these mean median mode range problems as daily homework, in stations, as a scavenger hunt, or assign them to specific students depending on their needs and abilities.  I loved to put students in small groups of 2-3 and have them work the problems together, but then I had each submit their own recording sheet.

These cards will have your students…

  • Identifying outliers
  • Making inferences
  • Choosing the best measure of central tendency
  • Predicting
  • Re-computing when more data is discovered
  • And so much more

This product is offered in both full-color and in black and white to help with your printing budgets and needs.

The ghosts and goblins will thank you!
